Comet R4

Customers increasingly ask for complex machining on multiple sides of the same profile. To meet this need, Alkuform, a company based in Lüdenscheid, Germany, chose Comet R4, the 5-axis CNC machining centre from Emmegi, a brand of the Voilàp Group, and can now carry out additional machining steps in-house.

Five controlled axes: multiple sides of the profile in a single clamping
Comet R4 is a bar machining centre suitable for aluminium, PVC, light alloy and selected steel profiles. It machines the top face and the side faces in a single setup, with profiles up to 4,000 mm long, extendable up to double that length through repositioning. The clamping systems position themselves automatically according to the length of the piece and the machining program.

Nearby service: less machine downtime, better respect for delivery times
Alongside the technology, the proximity of the supplier matters to Alkuform. The company had already gained good experience with the service of Emmegi Deutschland on its previous machine and, in one service case on the new line, only one working day passed between the report and the arrival of the technician. For those who have to deliver large series on schedule, response times like these are decisive: machine downtime can never be entirely ruled out, but it must be kept as short as possible.
With Comet R4, Alkuform has expanded its technical capabilities and increased its flexibility as a medium-sized supplier, able to respond to complex requests without leaving its own plant.
